The Hamptons

London Town

The Hamptons were originally formed in the mid 1990's by singer and chief songwriter Neil Murray following the release of his solo album "Return to Malibu" in 1994 on Freestyle Records. This is their discography.

In reality, whilst The Hamptons (named, incidentally, after the place in Long Island where the rich Wall Street people go on their hols!) could be called a British guitar band, it is more like a concept, a brand name, drawing on a small pool of musicians on a project by project basis. You will always find Neil Murray singing and playing the guitar on each album but the different sets of musicians that contribute to each project gives each set of songs its own particular definition - its own distinct feel and sound.

The Hamptons are all about riffs, guitars, harmonies, driving rock, sixties pop, ballads, country overtones, Lennonesque vocal treatment and all the wry lyrical subtleties of a Tilbrook or a Costello.  Here is everything from the Beatles and Beach Boys to Squeeze and Springsteen.  The Hamptons are based in and around London and gig mainly in London.

All the Hamptons CDs are released on the Longmede label, the Hamptons own label.

For an example of our work click here.  There are at least two Real Audio tracks for each album as well as lyrics for all songs.  There is also a video of the Hamptons playing live at The King's Head, Fulham..   In the longer version there is an atmospheric intro before the band gets going.  Put Real Player on full screen and step back ten feet.

You can buy the albums on-line.  Prices start at £4.

Click on the album covers for history, information and Real Audio tracks from each of the Hampton's CD's.
